Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York Project
AMP’s first state project involved 250 kids from eight schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. Students from the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, traveled to East Harlem to work with students at Taller Boricua and more than two tons of ceramic clay to create the largest section of the mural: the 10-foot-tall foundry worker and a sluice of molten metal. After firing the tiles, the students from Taller traveled to Ellen’s studio in Connecticut to glaze the tiles with students from the Hotchkiss School, Sharon Center School (Sharon, CT), Cornwall Consolidated School (Cornwall, CT), Monument Mountain Regional High School (Great Barrington, MA), Walter B Howard Elementary School (New Lebanon, NY), New Lebanon Junior-Senior High School (New Lebanon, NY), and Stockbridge Plain School (Stockbridge, MA).
