After-School Programs

AMP offers weekly after-school enrichment programs during the school year, led by professional teaching artists with the help of high school and college-aged interns. In partnership with the Winchester Public Schools, AMP provides on-site, hands-on arts-based programs for students in grades 2–6, two days per week. Themes and mediums change weekly and offer creative projects that are designed to educate, inspire, and engage participants. Lessons extend beyond the classroom as well, with time outside for art and play.

If your school or district is interested in offering on- or off-site after-school programs in partnership with AMP, please contact Michelle Begley, education programs director: michelle@americanmuralproject.org.

Funding for the CHAMPS after-school program has been provided by the Rohit and Katharine Desai Family Foundation and the American Savings Foundation.

“My daughter loved the AMP art program through CHAMPS. Keeping a kid engaged following a long day at school isn’t always easy, yet sometimes it was hard to get her out of there at pickup because she was so focused on her project! Not only did they make unique crafts that we still have on display at home, but they spent time outside in nature and had the opportunity to check out a variety of artwork at nearby Whiting Mills. My interactions with staff always confirmed what she reported back to me: Everyone seemed to have a gentle nature, showing interest in the kids’ projects and offering instruction. AMP exceeded all of my expectations with its quality programming and dedicated staff. So glad that she had the opportunity to attend!”
